CryoCapCell, a French company founded in 2013, is dedicated to the development and commercialization of integrated sample preparation solutions for high-pressure freezing (HPF) and correlative light–electron microscopy (CLEM). Its portfolio includes the HPM Live μ and HPM α high-pressure freezers, the FS-unit freeze-substitution system, and the R221 low-temperature embedding resin—complemented by standardized experimental protocols and dedicated software for precise correlative image registration. The HPF instruments achieve vitrification of fully hydrated biological specimens via ultra-rapid cooling under precisely controlled pressures of 2000–3000 bar, using high-pressure liquid nitrogen. The HPM Live μ uniquely integrates live-cell fluorescence imaging with automated cryo-immobilization, transferring specimens to the freezing chamber within 1.26 seconds post-imaging; it supports multiple specimen formats, including 3 mm and 6 mm aluminum planchettes, copper tubing, and Autogrids. The FS-unit employs solid-state electric refrigeration, features a compact footprint suitable for benchtop or fume hood installation, and enables programmable low-temperature dehydration, resin infiltration, and UV-initiated polymerization. R221 is an osmium-free, fluorescence-preserving, high-contrast epoxy-based resin optimized for both transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and volume electron microscopy (vEM) applications. Collectively, CryoCapCell’s platform delivers a seamless, end-to-end workflow spanning live-cell imaging, high-pressure fixation, freeze-substitution and embedding, and multimodal image correlation.
