Time zone

The time zone of all of China is Asia/Shanghai, which is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GCMT). There is no summer time in China.

 

Weather

September is the most beautiful season in Shenzhen. In early September, the weather is usually fine and clear, although sometimes it rains. The highest temperature is from 20°C to 30°C, and the lowest temperature is from 15°C to 20°C. The weather in Mianyang and Chengdu is similar to Beijing in early September.

 

Currency and exchanging

The Chinese currency is known as the RMB with the unit Chinese Yuan (CNY), which utilizes the decimal system, with one Yuan being equal to 10 dimes or 100 cents. A foreign exchange facility will be available at all international airports. For updated currency rates see:

Electricity

China’s electricity supply is 220 volts, AC 50Hz. The type A and I of plug and socket are commonly used in China (see http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/). Please check if you need an adapter for your electrical equipment. If you stay in Zhongguanyuan Global Village or Beijing Friendship Hotel and need an adapter, you may contact the front desk for help. But Kaiyuan Hotel and Jiulong Hotel cannot supply the adapter.

 

Insurance

You must ensure that you have adequate personal insurance to cover your travel and medical as neither the Organizing Committee nor any of its service providers can be held liable for loss or injury while at the school / conference or on any of its tours or activities. Normally, if you pay for your air ticket by credit card, you should have automatic travel cover. Please check this with your credit card provider and airline.
